The Gauhati Commerce College NSS Unit was established in the year 1971 under the Gauhati University NSS Cell.

At present, the college has two NSS Units and two adopted villages. The college NSS has over the years been constantly engaged in myriad social projects in line with the motto of NSS ‘Not me but you’.

Some of these projects include awareness campaigns on Swacchta,  Poshan, Rashtriya Ekta, Polio eradication, gender issues, menstrual hygiene and Street plays on ‘witch hunting’ and ‘ ill- effects of drug abuse’.

Beautification of public walls with social messages have also been carried out. Capacity and Skill- building trainings have also been imparted to the people of the adopted villages. Yoga camps, cancer awareness and detection camps, eye check- up camps, health check- up camps, blood group testing camps and  blood  donation camps have also been organised. Volunteers have, at different times donated and continue to donate blood to needy people.
